Marine Life

The mud and sand flats of Morecambe Bay support one of the most important wildfowl and wader populations in the UK, second only to the Wash.
It regularly supports 170,000 wintering waders with several species in internationally significant numbers, including Oystercatcher, Dunlin, Knot, Curlew, Redshank and Turnstone.
Wildfowl in internationally significant numbers include Shelduck and Pintail.
