Steam Trawlers

Steam trawlers began to replace the smacks making more distant fishing grounds accessible. The trawlers burned coal to raise the steam to drive the engines. Over 200 tons of coal might be needed on a long distance fishing trip. The crew's accommodation was sparse with limited washing and toilet facilities.
