Come along to a Committee meeting
You are welcome to attend Committee meetings to listen to and observe what's being discussed. We'd appreciate it if you would let us know you are coming along. Please note, you aren't allowed to participate in the meeting, and if confidential matters are being discussed, you'll be asked to leave the room.
Dates, venues and agendas of all forthcoming Overview and Scrutiny committees are posted regularly on the calendar.
Provide advice or evidence to a Committee
A committee or a task group can call witnesses when gathering evidence for their investigation. If you have not been approached by the committee but you think you have information or evidence that can contribute to one of the current investigations, please fill in the form provided.
As well as interviews, Scrutiny investigations can involve members going on site visits or speaking to groups of people. If you think this would be useful for any of the current or proposed scrutiny investigations, please let us know.
Call in
Overview and Scrutiny has the power to "Call In" decisions made by cabinet and chief officers. This means that the decision maker is formally invited to reconsider a decision they have made. The Call In Policy document contains guidance on the process and a form for any councillors wanting to start the call in process.
