What topics do you cover?

Living in Lancashire asks for your opinions on many varied topics. Previous research has covered issues such as:

  • the emergency services,
  • local transport,
  • children and young people,
  • access to services and information,
  • leisure time,
  • social services,
  • local government, and the future of Lancashire.

Who can join Living in Lancashire?

Anyone who is aged 16 years or over and lives in the areas that Lancashire County Council covers is welcome to join Living in Lancashire.

How do I become a member ?

There are a number of easy ways to join LiL. You can fill in a membership questionnaire online or you can send us your address and we'll post a membership questionnaire to you.

What will you do with my personal information?

All the information you provide is treated in the strictest confidence and will be used for statistical and research purposes only. Personal information will always remain confidential and will not be disclosed to any other organisation.

If any of your personal details change while you are a member of Living in Lancashire, you can fill in our online change of address form or let us know by post, telephone or e-mail and we will update our records.

Once you leave the panel all of your personal details will be removed from our database.

Will I be asked to complete a lot of surveys?

Living in Lancashire members receive up to four questionnaires a year. Questionnaires should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. You may also be invited to take part in interviews or local discussion groups, and your participation in these will always be voluntary.

Am I paid to be a member?

No. But if you attend some of the other research activities, for example local discussion groups, payments may be made to cover your out-of-pocket expenses such as time and travel costs.

Will I get feedback on the research?

We give panel members regular feedback on how we are going to improve our services to better meet their needs. A newsletter is sent with every piece of postal research containing information about the topics covered in the previous wave. To download a pdf of the panel newsletters use the following links:

What happens if I want to leave Living in Lancashire?

Members are free to leave the panel at any time. All you need to do is contact us by post, telephone or e-mail, telling us your membership number and name. We will remove you from the panel straight away.

How long will I be a member?

We value everyone's contribution to Living in Lancashire. From time to time we will recruit new members onto the panel as people move away or decide they no longer wish to be a member of Living in Lancashire. Every so often we will randomly remove members from the LiL panel so that the panel remains fresh and represents the general views of people in Lancashire. We will of course write or e-mail to let you know about any changes to your membership.
