Caring for an adult

If you care for another adult aged 18 or over, you may be able to get more support to help you in your vital role.

This could include:

  • government benefits, including Carers Allowance
  • technology and home adaptations to support the person you care for
  • short breaks to give you time away from your caring role
  • specialist advice and guidance from Lancashire Carers Service

This could help you ensure your friend, family member or loved one can live as independently as possible in their own home and support you to stay well.

Caring for someone includes supporting with daily tasks and keeping them company so if you do this, you are a carer and could be able to access support.
