Made in Lancashire

Supporting local produce

Lancashire Museums are proud to support local producers.  Many of our venues sell quality local products, such as

  • woven bags, partly manufactured on historic textile machines at both our Queen Street Mill and Helmshore Mills Textile Museum in partnership with Gain Retail Solutions
  • recycled pencils
  • notebooks made from recycled circuit boards by Revolve
  • home-made fudge from Roly’s Fudge Pantry
  • a selection of jams, marmalades and chutneys from local manufacturer Reedy’s who are based in Oswaldtwistle.

Art and Sculpture

Redcurrant Glass

Redcurrant is contemporary kiln formed glass handmade by Karen Redmayne.  Each individual piece is inspired by the colours and forms in nature.

Products include glass landscapes, tiles, coasters, mirrors, frames, jewellery and cards.

Items from this beautiful range can be purchased from our Museum shop at Helmshore Textile Museum. For further information please telephone Helmshore Textile Museum on 01706 226459.

Purchase Your Own Unique Piece of History

When you visit Lancaster City Museum, not only will you have the chance to see the iconic Roman cavalry tombstone, but you will also have the opportunity to purchase your own unique piece of history!

Inspired by the discovery of the Roman tombstone back in 2005, local ceramic artist Wyn Abbot has handmade a range of wall sculptures and roman soldiers that are only on sale at the Lancaster City Museum.

Each piece is a totally unique, individually hand made sculpture that has not been mass produced and will be completely different to anything else made by the same artist. Should you wish to make a purchase you will be the owner of a unique piece of art.

Made from the finest clay and fired to a stoneware temperature all pieces are suitable for the outdoors.

Some of Wyn’s pieces are already on display and can be purchased from the Museum shop.

Lancashire Food

In Lancashire, we are rightly proud of our food heritage. When visiting one of our museums, make sure you visit the cafe and shop, where you will find real Lancashire dishes to taste and fresh local produce to take home.
