Lancashire County Museums: Enabling teachers to effectively embrace the new ‘Cultural Offer for Young People’

Our Simply Schools programme aims to create an enjoyable and inspiring learning environment for your pupils. Through access to the collections we encourage investigation and creative responses, enabling pupils to appreciate and understand Lancashire’s rich heritage.

• We offer a holistic approach to learning that will stimulate the senses and nurture curiosity as well as inspire and encourage creative thinking. Through active participation your pupils will experience a taste of the past and a sense of place that takes them beyond the classroom walls.
• We carefully tailor our sessions to meet the changing needs of the National Curriculum and QCA Schemes of work, and we ensure that our educational provision and other activities reinforce learning at school by liaising closely with teachers to meet their requirements’.
• We are also happy to work with teachers on specific one-off projects at any of our sites. Please contact one of our Lifelong Learning Officers for details.

At our museums, teachers and adults accompanying school groups are admitted free, with the exception of Lancaster Castle.

Teachers are invited to make a free preliminary visit to all the venues listed in this brochure, please ring individual museums to make an appointment.
